‘Our Cardiff’ is a heritage project that explores the experiences of residents living in one of Cardiff’s oldest multi-ethnic communities. Butetown is one of the many areas in Cardiff Bay, that welcomed people from over 50 counties with sailors and workers settling in the mid-1900s.
‘Our Cardiff’ reaches out to communities to share stories and experiences on what people perceive heritage, belonging and home to be. We will draw upon the voices of Butetown residents and use their stories as an inspiration to create a mural.
The mural will be commissioned to a local artist and represent the diverse communities.
This group has been created by Cadwyn; a housing association based in Cardiff. Cadwyn has an ever-growing Equalities Group that has been designed to provide a platform to our communities who have an interest/passion in creating a more equal and inclusive city.
